What’s with the blue tape?

Kinesiotape FAQs

1.  What does Kinesiotape do?

The Kinesiotaping method is applied over and around muscles to increase lymphatic drainage, reduce pain, relax tight muscles, and support injured or weak muscles.  It allows for full range of motion while assisting joint movement.  Kinesiotape can be used for headaches, shoulder instability, knee sprains, pulled muscles, bruising, first aid, and whatever you can think of!

2.  How is it different than regular tape?

Kinesiotape is 100% latex-free, high-grade cotton with a light hypo-allergenic heat activated adhesive.  It is 140% elastic, the same as skin, so it lifts the skin off of the muscle, creating a lymphatic channel.  Kinesiotape can stay on for 3-7 days.

3.  Can I tape myself?

The Kinesiotaping technique is highly specific and unique, but easy to learn.  Have an experienced professional show you how to tape yourself, or get instruction.  Beware of pre-cut “kinesiology tape” stickers that you just stick on yourself–Kinesiotape works best when stretched, or unstretched, or split or webbed or origin to insertion or insertion to origin–depending on YOUR specific issue.  One size does not fit all!

4.  Can it get wet?

Kinesiotape is fully waterproof 2-3 hours after application.  Rubbing the tape helps create heat, activating the adhesive.

5.  Why blue?

I began using Kinesiotape a few years ago, and was under the impression that blue was waterproof.   Since then, all Kinesio Tex Tape is waterproof, but the blue stuck for Deep Relief.
