With all the water, snow, and land athletes we work with at Deep Relief, I thought I had seen it all. But an unfortunate incident involving me, my kite, and a tree introduced me to the AIR athletes of Maui– Palm Tree Trimmers! Dave came over on a Sunday morning, shimmied 50 feet up an Ironwood tree on the beach, and rescued my kite! What a feat of athleticism! The kite was pretty beat up at that point but much better on the ground than in the air. And I was very impressed.

Just finishing up a week with the Canadian National Triathlon team at their training base in Victoria, Canada as they prepare for the World Championships in Beijing. I’ve been busy getting after injuries, post-training massage, and meeting lots of staff and athletes that I haven’t worked with before. But, been lots of time for my own training camp: mountain biking, swimming in the cold ocean and warm lakes, and checking out the strength facility. I even did a pool workout with the team this morning, if I wear fins I can almost keep up! Looking forward to heading back to Maui tomorrow and perhaps catching the last of the South Swell….?
